Eva Blokker
PhD Student
Eva grew up in Heemskerk. She followed the joint degree master Molecular Sciences at the UvA and VU in Amsterdam. During her master’s project in Theoretical Chemistry, she got the chance to collaborate with Nouryon within the ARC CBBC consortium. This resulted in her current position as PhD in the group of Matthias Bickelhaupt, which started in March 2019. The aim of the collaboration with Nouryon is to develop quantum chemical models for designing new and sustainable polymerization initiators for the industry. Therefore, her research is all about radical chemistry. For instance, tuning the electron-pair bond by steric hindrance or investigating side reactions of peroxides. The experimental part of this research is carried out by Nouryon. In her spare time, Eva likes to do activities with friends such as hiking, canoeing, and mountain biking.
