Angelina van Dam
PhD student
Angelina grew up in Dordrecht, the oldest city in Holland. During her Bachelor of Science at VU/UvA, she discovered her passion for theoretical chemistry and has not looked back since. In her Master of Science, she further specialized in theoretical chemistry, researching dynamic covalent networks. Currently, as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dr. Pascal Vermeeren, she is studying single-atom catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction using a combination of Density Functional Theory (DFT) and periodic DFT. To gain a better understanding of these systems, she is developing a quantum chemical model for analyzing chemical bonding and reactivity on surfaces.
In her spare time, Angelina enjoys spending time with her friends, listening to Taylor Swift, and reading Jane Austen novels.
